BEGIN YOUR MORNINGS WITH A CALMING TEA and PAINTING RITUAL..

The Morning Tea & Watercolour Painting Class is inspired by my idea of the perfect way to wake up in the morning. The ritual of preparing a hot mug of tea and finding your favourite Spotify playlist before taking the time to practice Chinese brush painting, creates a sense of calm and inner peace. The intention of the Morning Tea & Watercolour Painting Class is to be intentionally slow. It’s a reminder to move at a gentler pace once in a while, make space for creative flow and practice patience with yourself.

I teach students the basics of Chinese brush painting emphasizing on the painting process and techniques which can take years to master. Students will learn how to load a paint brush, mix inks/paints and use layering techniques, while painting on delicately thin and sparkly rice paper. (yes, sparkles!)

As it so happens, the calmer you are, the steadier your hand and mind to focus on the weight of your brush strokes, the water and ink ratio in your paint dish and the mark created as your paint sinks into the unforgiving rice paper (so you concentrate a little harder) and your immediate thoughts slowly drift away.

I use paints, brushes, inks and rice paper found at local art shops from my home town, Hong Kong. The Morning Tea & Watercolour Painting Class is hosted in partnership with like minded art studios and small businesses.
